The Fun Stuff on a Yacht Connections charter

Chartering is all about the ACTIVITIES,
after all... It is a vacation!

KayakingWhether its the exhiliration of the water rushing past the toe rail on a fast reach, lounging in the jacuzzi atop the flybridge of a motoryacht, your first time snorkeling, or seeing the kids finally get up on waterskis, chartering is all about the Activitlies.

There is a charter yacht, cruising area and vacation plan to suite almost every vacationer's tastes. Some yachts are more about watersports, others about the thrill of sailing, while still others are all about unlimited indulgence, and then there are those that are all about rest, relaxation, loafing in the hammock and maybe sipping a piña colada and watching for the Green Flash as the sun sets into the western seas.

Palapa on Mopion, the GrenadinesLikewise, the myriad charter destinations will be like nothing you have ever experienced, or seemingly a dream destination. There spectrum runs from the ultimate duty-free shopping ports to miles of palm-fringed deserted beaches, fine dining to driftwood beach bars, five star resorts to a frond-covered palapa peeking from the sea on a tiny sand spit.

Watersports activities galoreIn general, all charter yachts carry a variety of swim fins and snorkel gear, as well as other watersports equipment/toys such as "floaties" or sun cushions, fishing tackle, kayaks or windsurfers. As yachts get larger in size, they have more room for storing more equipment, and guests will find waterskis, kneeboards, towing tubes (seabisquits), scurfers, and wakeboards. On larger motoryachts there is often a small sailing dinghy such as a "Laser", and personal watercraft such as Waverunners or Jetskis (Personal watercraft may not be used in the British Virgin Islands nor the Virgin islands National Park).

Not all charter yachts are equiped for scuba diving, though "rendezvous" diving is easily arranged by the captain. "Rendezvous diving" means a dive boat from a shore-based dive firm meets up with your yacht to take the divers aboard out for a couple dives. For yachts that do offer diving, generally the captain or one of the crew members is certified as a dive master or dive instructor, and accompanies the guests on their dives, acting as a guide. Fees for diving vary, some yachts include diving and dive gear, others charge an additional fee Listening to the surf either for the diving or for the dive gear. Dive instruction is available from yachts that have a dive instructor aboard, or there is and "Introduction to Diving" day course, often called a "resort course", to give non-certified guests that want a taste of diving exactly that.

Of course there are yachts that also are happy to teach sailing to their guests, with ASA or RYA certified instructors, and of course on any charter, guests may join in as much as they would like in the sailing of the yacht under the captain's direction.
